Fomitopsis betulina
One of Britain's most ancient medicinal fungi, the birch polypore was found on Ötzi the Iceman (preserved for 5,300 years). It grows exclusively on birch trees, producing large, white, smooth brackets that provide habitat for rare invertebrates.
